  • Reconnect is partner with the Institute of Education, University of London to implement a teacher training project for 41 refugee trainees. The project offers an opportunity for refugees to enable them to gain a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Post-Compulsory Education (Further Education, Adult and Community Colleges). The project is funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) through the London Hub for Refugee Teachers/ Employability Forum.

  • As part of the London Hub for refugee teachers/ Employability forum, Reconnect is engaged in a job brokerage project that aims to support refugee teachers to enter further education with the support of mentors and relevant specialists from further education, including refugee teachers currently teaching, and in collaboration with the London Hub and other partners.

  • Reconnect is currently developing a pilot project to employ the skills and the experiences of UK based job-ready unemployed/ underemployed refugee teachers in developing countries. As part this initiative an advisory group has been set up, comprising of refugee teachers, representatives of universities engaged in training refugee teachers, and representatives of other organisations engaged in transfer of skills. A series of consultation is currently underway with various stake holders.

  • Reconnect continues to provide one-to-one assessment, advice and support  to individual refugees seeking employment in general, and in the post secondary teaching sector and the media in particular.
