Reconnect is partner with the Institute of Education, University of
London to implement a teacher training project for 41 refugee
trainees. The project offers an
opportunity for refugees to enable them to gain a Qualified Teacher
Status (QTS) in Post-Compulsory Education (Further Education, Adult
and Community Colleges). The project is funded by the Department
for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) through the London Hub for Refugee
Teachers/ Employability Forum.

As
part of the London Hub for refugee teachers/ Employability forum,
Reconnect is engaged in a job brokerage project that aims to support refugee teachers
to enter further education with the support of mentors and relevant specialists
from further education, including refugee teachers currently teaching,
and in collaboration with the London Hub and other partners.

Reconnect is
currently developing a pilot project to employ the skills and the
experiences of UK based job-ready unemployed/ underemployed refugee
teachers in developing countries. As part this initiative an advisory
group has been set up, comprising of refugee teachers, representatives
of universities engaged in training refugee teachers, and
representatives of other organisations engaged in transfer of skills.
A series of consultation is currently underway with various stake
holders.
